What to Expect in an Insurance Checkout
1. Ground Instruction
We'll start with a comprehensive review of the aircraft and key operational procedures, covering topics such as:
- Aircraft systems and performance
- Limitations and emergency procedures
- Weight and balance considerations
- Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) related to your aircraft
- Best practices for risk management and operational safety
2. Flight Evaluation
During the flight portion, our instructors will assess your ability to:
- Perform normal and crosswind takeoffs and landings
- Execute emergency procedures and simulated system failures
- Demonstrate proper slow flight and stall recovery techniques
- Handle specific maneuvers required for tailwheel operations, such as wheel landings and three-point landings (for tailwheel aircraft)
- Exhibit precision and control in all phases of flight
3. Post-Flight Debrief
After the flight, we’ll provide a detailed performance review, address any areas for improvement, and sign off on your successful completion if all requirements are met.
