OUR SERVICES

What is an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)?

An IPC is required for pilots who have not met the instrument currency requirements under 14 CFR 61.57(c) within the past six months. It is a comprehensive evaluation of your IFR skills, covering both ground knowledge and flight proficiency to ensure you are ready to operate safely in the National Airspace System under instrument conditions.

Our IPC Services Include:

1. Ground Training

  • Review of IFR regulations, procedures, and airspace classifications.
  • Flight planning essentials, including weather interpretation and alternate planning.
  • Navigation systems, including GPS, VOR, and ILS operations.
  • Risk management and aeronautical decision-making in IFR conditions.
  • Review of recent changes in instrument flight procedures and technology.

2. Flight Session

  • Departure, enroute, and arrival procedures under IFR conditions.
  • Holding patterns, course tracking, and intercepting procedures.
  • Precision and non-precision approach execution.
  • Unusual attitude recovery and emergency operations.
  • Use of autopilot and advanced avionics, if applicable.

3. Post-Flight Debrief

  • Performance review with constructive feedback.
  • Personalized recommendations for continued proficiency.
  • Discussion of areas for improvement and skill refinement.

Who Needs an IPC?

You’ll need an IPC if you:

  • Have not logged the required 6 instrument approaches, holding procedures, and intercepting/tracking tasks in the last 6 months.
  • Want to refresh and strengthen your IFR knowledge and skills for added confidence.
  • Are transitioning to a new aircraft or avionics system and need additional IFR training.
